Many of you are familiar with The Ranch’s rustic roots 82 years ago with no running water, no electricity and living in tents. Throughout the years we have transformed into an inspiring place of beauty and comfort. It has been a miraculous process as my mother likes to point out.
Three years ago we entered into a partnership with Grupo Espirtu to create a wellness community at the foot of our mountain and today I visited our first fully furnished casita at the Residences! It was a moment of great anticipation and excitement made even more meaningful because these have been enormously challenging years worldwide and our corner of the world has been no exception. I am proud to say that our first complete casita is truly spacious and elegant, yet still cozy and friendly. The use of local brick walls and tile roofs link these buildings to the familiar construction style at The Ranch but they are refreshed with a modern simplicity and elegance––with more light and spaciousness. It was a magical moment as we crossed a threshold and stepped into the next chapter of the Ranch’s legacy.
My first impression was a warm, welcoming living space with bright light streaming through the glass doors and windows greeting us with expansive mountain views. As I walk further into the house the accent wall of the deep rich earth tones of the traditional Mexican plaster provides a gracious contrast to the quiet blues and creams of the seating area. I am invited to nestle into the very comfortable sofa by the fire and take in the view to the mountains and the patio. My eyes follow the beautiful wood paneled ceiling to the spacious kitchen with blue Talavera tile. It is such a well-equipped kitchen that I easily imagine myself sharing adventurous culinary ambitions with friends.
I walk into the master bedroom which has such a beautiful color palette I want to linger here as long as possible. The shimmering pale plaster wall is so peaceful. This is the room that still sings to me when I close my eyes.
I save the best for last and explore the patio—with its covered dining area, inviting dipping pool, and hammock, rocking in the lazy breeze. I am pleased to share the photos with you after so many months of pouring over renderings.
When I wrote to you last, the roof lines and roads were visible and many hands were at work, brick-by-brick bringing our “harvest of dreams” to reality. The Resident Village center is coming along, the water treatment plant will soon be underway, and four more finished homes will be delivered in the next two months.
